This map shows the locations of the original land patents owned by the early settlers of the area now known as Washington County, Maryland. At the time of these transactions, this area was Frederick County, Maryland. The area covered is most of Washington County from the Pennsylvania border on the north to just above Rohrersville on the south.

This map and the accompanying set of tables was submitted by Jerry B. Twigg, who developed this map from an original map found at the Washington County Court House in Hagerstown.
