HANS MARTIN (REINAU) RHEIN

HANS MARTIN RHEIN born April 1718 in Blankenloch, Baden-Durlach, Germany was son of HANS MARTIN REINAU and MAGDALENA FREYMULLER and grandson of BARTHEL and ANNA REINAU. He came to America with his mother and father and the rest of the family, arriving, on the "FOX" in Philadelphia on Oct. 12 1738. He was 20 years old. The family settled in West Manchester area of York County. Six years later at age 26,he married MARY ELIZABETH RUDISILL born Aug. 19,1721 in Michelfeld, Germany.She was the daughter of WEYRICH(TERRICK)RUDISILL and BARBARA SIEGFRIED.
They remained in the West Manchester area and had 7 children. Hans Martin Rhein died Feb 9.1758 at age 40,leaving his widow with 4 living children (3 having died very young). They were:
THOMAS age 12
JACOB age 11
MARTIN age 6
DORETHEA age 2
York County Orphans Court Docket A : 26 August 1760 state that Thomas Krumrine and Philip Miller, administrators of the will of Martin (RHEIN) RYAN of Manchester township report a balance of L305.5.4. Maria Elizabeth the widow gets L101.15.1. The remaining two thirds goes to the guardians of Thomas, Jacob, Martin, and Dorothea, minor orphans of the deceased. Each gets L50.17.6.

The same court reports the following:

On 25 Nov. 1760,John Hay, Yorktown, joiner, was appointed guardian of THOMAS (RHEIN) RYAN. On 3 March 1761,John Hayes bound THOMAS, age 16 years the 29th day of August last, to Jacob Myer, sadler (saddle maker), of Baltimore town, until he becomes twenty one.

On 25 Nov 1760, Philip Fishburn windmill Maker of York was appointed guardian of Jacob (RHEIN)RYAN age 13 years “about the 15th day of December last. and On 3 March 761,JACOB RINE age fourteen years the 11th day of December last was bound to Ludwig Heidigh, tailor of York town, until he became twenty-one.

On 25 Nov.1760, Ludwig Heidich was appointed guardian of MARTIN RYAN, age eight years last new years day. York Vital Stat`s state that Martin died May 3rd 1764,at age 12 years, 4 months and 2 days.

ELIZABETH RUDISILL RHEIN was now home alone with her 8 year old daughter, DORETHEA (the two older boys having been bound out as apprentices).

ELIZABETH RUDISILL RHEIN, widow, moved to Lincoln County N.C. with her 12 year old Dau.Dorethea, in or before 1768 and settled near her Brother in Law, Jacob Rhyne in what is now Gaston County .

DORETHEA RUDISILL grew up there and married John Rudisill, born in Lincoln County N.C. son of Michael Rudisill and Catherine Eve Dellinger.

THOMAS (RHEIN) RHYNE finished his apprentice-ship in 1766 and appears in N.C. about the same time as his mother and sister. (Possibly together)

JACOB RHYNE Finished his apprentice-ship in 1767, He also came to N.C. (possibly with Mother and Brother, and young sister.)

Note-- By 1790 in N.C. most all the Rein, Rhein Rhine families were known by "RHYNE"
