!Obituary from the Centre Daily Times:
Bernard M. Stover, 90, Spring Township, died at his home Sunday at
3:55p.m. He had worked as a carpenter in the Bellefonte area for many
years. He was born Dec. 4, 1883, in Benner Township, a son of William and
Ellen Koch Stover. In 1907 he married Lulu Johnson, who died Oct. 4 of
this year. He is survived by six children: Gerald, Elmhurst, Ill.; Fred,
Madison, Wis.; and Mrs. Helen Shuey, Mrs. Ethel Green, and Mrs. Lois
Boob, all of Bellefonte. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 28 great-
grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a brother, William
Stover of Coleville. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Colevill e where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ronal d Murphy of
Coleville officiating. Burial will be in the Meyer's Cemetery, Benner
Township. Friends may call at the Wetzler Funeral Home in Bellefonte Wedn esday
afternoon and evening. Memorial gifts may be made to the Wesleyan Churc h of Coleville or the Weaver United Methodist Church, Jacksonville Road.

Bernard was first named "Newton", in 1889, his name was changed to
Bernard Martin. While Bernard's parents were living on the Brockerhoff fa rm, Bernard happened to get work on a construction crew that was buildin g an addition
onto the barn of Nathaniel Yearick, of Walker Township. The tenant farmer
living on Yearick's farm was Claude Johnson. Bernard and Claude's
daughter Lulu met there and eventually got married. Bernard and Lulu go t married on 8/15/1907. Lulu took the train up the Nittany Valley to Bell efonte where she met Bernard at the train station. They rode to Pleasan t Gap in a horse and buggy to get married by Rev. Durkey, a Methodist pre acher. The witnesses to the marriage were Lulu's brother Everett and Ever ett's girlfriend, Ethel Smith.
After the marriage, Bernard and Lulu set up house keeping at Rock,
Centre County, renting a farm from Mr. Reynolds. Helen and Gerald were
born while they lived at Rock. In 1911 or 1912 Mr. Reynolds sold some of
these farms to the Rockview Prison, which was established there.
Bernard and his family then moved in with his mother Ellen, at t he
small farm at Curtin narrows. This is where Bernard and Lulu lived for
the rest of their lives, and all the remaining children were born there.
It's been said that Bernard paid his mother $750.00 for the farm while
his mother was still living there with them. After her death in 1927,
there was a misunderstanding about the $750.00 and Bernard had to pay the
sum again to the estate of his late mother. Bernard took title to the
land on 9/14/1928.
Bernard in 1929 bought 8 acres of land from H. Laird Curtin for
$1.00. It seems that Bernard had done carpenter work for Mr. Curtin, and
was paid for his work by being able to buy the land cheaply.
Bernard was a carpenter and small farmer all his life. He learned
the carpenter trade from Aley Breon. He spent many of his working years
doing carpenter work For Henry Brockerhoff on the seven farms that Mr.
Brockerhoff owned. Bernard also did much carpenter work for the Hartles.

Last Will & Testament
of
Bernard M. Stover
I Bernard M, Stover, of R D # 3, Bellefonte, Centre County,
Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, and
forgetting no one, do make and publish this my last will and testamount,
hereny revoking and making making void all former wills by me at anytime
heretofore made.
I make the following distribution of my personal property and
real estate at my death:
I give to my grandson, Richard Allen Stover, whom we raised,
his choice between my 8MM and my pump gun.
I give my 16 gauge shotgun to Fred Stover, my son.
I give to Woodrow my sonmy bolt cutters.
I give the wall clock to Gerald Stover, my son.
I give something of equal value to that which each of the boys
received, the value to be set at ten dollars ($10.00), to each of my
daughters, Helen Stover Shuey, Ethel Stover Green, and Lois Stover Boob;
and to my granddaughter, Mary Grove Green.
My dad's desk upstairs shall not be disposed of, but shall be
given to whomever will take care of it. Woodrow Stover, my son, can have
first choice or whomever will keep it.
Everything not mentioned in the foregoing paragraphs shall be
sold, both personal property and real estate, in the shortest possible
time, not to exceed one year after my death.
Lulu B. Stover, my wife, shall have the use of any and all
money available for the needs and comfort of herself, but shall not loan
any money to anyone. At her time of death, after all funeral expenses
have been paid and all debts have been paid and the lettering completed
on the monument.
The remaining money, if any, shall be divided equally between
my children, Helen Stover Shuey, Gerald Stover, Woodrow Stover, Fred
Stover, Ethel Stover Green and Lois Stover Boob. If any of these children
shall predecease me, his or her share shall be divided equally, share and
share alike, among his or her surviving children. Of the above
distribution, One-third (1/3) of my daughter, Helen Stover Shuey's share
shall be given to her children, Mary Grove Green and Nevin Grove.
My daughter Ethel's shareshall be equally divided between her
and her children excluding (including B.M.S.) (correction, ex was crossed
out) Richard, and whatever amount of the $1394.62 that I paid for he r to
take over the James Kelley property has not been paid back (if any) shall
be deducted from her half of her share of the estate. She has receipts
for any money she paid back to me. There are papers and bills included to
cover this transaction.
If any of the above mentioned children should predecease me and
should have no children to survive him or her, his or her share shall be
divided among the remaining heirs.
Everything shall be done in a peaceful way. Anyone making
trouble, shall receive one dollar ($1.00)legal money as his or her share
and be barred from having any pary in the balance of the estate forever.
My funeral expenses and my monument shall be paid first.
I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my sons, Gerald
Stover, Woodrow Stover, and Fred Stover to act as executors of this my
last will and testamount..If it shoud be inconvient for my sons, Geral
Stover and Fred Stover, to so act, I then nominate, constitue and appoint
Darel Boob to so
act in their places.

have hereunto subscribed my hand and seal, this 2nd, day of Oct., 1971
