BIO: Born in York, son of the late Albert and Ella Dell Fogle.Retired in
1977 from Jones Motor Express, he was currently working for
BurnsInternational Security Co. Member of Intenational Brotherhood
of Teamsters, Local 776 Harrisburg; an honorary member of
Newberrytown Fire Company, of which he served as first lieutenant i n
the firepolice; member of the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association ; and
of the West Shore Post 50, Disabled American Veterans. During WWII , he
served with the U.S. Army as a corporal in Company B, 307th Infantr y
Div. Heparticpated in the battles of Ryukyus and Okinawa in the
Pacific, and for courage shown in the later received a Purple Heart .
Story from York Dispatch: Fireman Dies - Newberrytown Volunteer Fal ls
From Truck - A 66-year-old Newberrytown Volunteer Fire Company
firefighter died Tuesday after falling from a fire truck respondin g to
a chimney fire.
County coroner Kathryn Fourhman said results of an autopsy showed t hat
James A. Fogle, York Haven RD 1, suffered a seizure from
artrtiosclerotic cardiovascular disese before falling from the truc k on
the Susquehanna Trail, slightly north of Stevens Road.
Memorial Osteopathic Hospital sources said Fogle died in the fall a nd
was unable to be resuscitated by personnel from the Medic 102unit . He
was pronouced dead on arrival at 10:06 a.m. at the hospital.

Fogle served as first lieutenant in the fire police for the
Newberrytown Fire Company and was a member of York County Fire
Police Association.
Fogle was the husband of Ruth E. Fetrow Fogle.
Born in York, Mr. Fogle was the son of the late Albert and EllaFogl e.
He retired in 1977 from Jones MOtor Express and was currently worki ng
for Burns International Security Co.
He was a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local776 ,
Harrisburg: the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association and WestShor e Post
50, Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Fogle served as a corporal in Company B, 307th Infantry
Division during World War II. He served in the battle of Ryukyus an d
Okinawa and received a purple heart for courage shown in the latter .

Survivors include:
Two daughters - Deanna Mazourek, Newfield, N.Y., and Debra Settino,
Colonial Park, Harrisburg.
Six sons - Wayne Fogle, Etters RD 2; Barry Ness and Dennis Ness,bot h of
York; Dwight Fogle, Jacksonville, N.C.; Stanley Fogle and Daryl Fog le
both at home.
Fourteen grandchildren.
Five sisters- Dorothy Richards, Etters; Joyce Myers, York Haven R D 1;
Jean Randolph, York; Stella Stare, York Haven RD 1; and Norma Baker New
Cumberland.
Five brothers- Lewis Fogle, Etters RD 2; Abraham Fogle, Dover RD
3;Wayne Fogle, York Haven RD 1; Charles Fogle, Columbus, Ga.;
and William Fogle, Montgomery, Ala.
