!Now a little something about my immediate family and how we relate to yo u. My
father was DAVID ELIAS EDDINGER brother to DANIEL WEBSTER (Webb) EDDINGER . I
knew Uncle Webb and Aunt Nettie and most of their children. I recall vis iting
in their home in Highpoint when I was a child and I attended Uncle Webb's
funeral in 1929. Your grandfather Carl came into a print shop where I wa s
working in Winston-Salem in 1933 to have some advertising printed for a
promotion he was engaged in at that time, and I renewed my aquaintance wi th him
then.
My father was widowed and remarried and I was the oldest child of the s econd
family and was born in 1915, which makes me very old. However, there i s one of
the girls from the first family still living in Winston-Salem, and anothe r of
the girls of the first family lived in California in 1920-25. She live d in
Maricopa, Bakersfield, Taft and other towns. Her husband was a worker i n the
oil fields there. I have lived in Florida since 1947 and have two childr en and
two grand-children. I have been retired from the printing business sinc e 1964.

!BIOGRAOPHY

DAVID EUGENE EDDINGER was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Forsyth Co., N.C. to DAV ID
ELIAS and MAY HEGE EDDINGER. He attended Eden Grammar School and R.J. Re ynolds
High in Winston-Salem, NC. His father died when he was twelve and his mo ther
raised her five children alone. After finishing high school, David go t a job
in a printing plant and then followed that trade for 52 years. He marrie d
MARTHA OLLIE PILKENTON in Nov. 1936 and their first child "Elaine" was bo rn in
1939. David was drafted into the Army in 1943 and served 30 months, 18 i n
Europe. After the war he moved his family to Miami, Florida where thei r second
child "John" was born. While in Europe he attended the Leicester Colleg e of
Arts where he studied the Graphic Arts for one semester, and later he spe nt one
year at the University of Miami where he studied Business Management and
Accounting. He managed a small printing company of 10 employees for 13 y ears
and in 1864 he opened his own small printing establishment and ran ran i t for
20 years, retiring in 1984. Both of his children finished college and bo th are
married; John has two children. David's hobbies include Photography,
Genealogy, Woodworking and collecting US stamps. His wife is now afflict ed
with Alzheimer's and he is her full time caretaker. David does not hav e a
Personal Computer and all of his records are kept in manilla files. In
addition he has books on "The Hagey Family in America", "The Adam Spach
Family", "The Eddinger Book of Records", and "The Leonard Family", and so me
books of cemetary records.
