!WILL:
In the name of God Amen, I, JACOB SPANGLER of Paradise Township in the Co
unty of York and State of Pennsylvania am at present in a state of good h
ealth and of a sound mind, memory and understanding, but considering th
e certainly of the death but the uncertainly of the time thereof, and s
o that I may be the better prepared to leave this world when God shall pl
ease to call me from hence, I do make and publish this my Last Will and T
estament in the manner following that is to say I command my soul into th
e hands of the Almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth from whe
nce it was taken, and that to such worldly estate wherewith it had please
d God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follow that is to sa
y my will is that my just debt together with my funeral expenses shall b
e paid as soon after my decease as can conveniently can be. My will is th
at all my personal estate shall be appraised and after such an appraiseme
nt my will is that my beloved wife CATHERINE shall keep so much of my per
sonal estate that she shall stand in need of and the residue shall be sol
d by my executor herein after named. And my will is that all my real esta
te shall be sold by my executor (except so much that my son JOHN SPANGLE
R has in possession at present) and the money arising therefrom shall b
e paid as follows, my will is the one thousand dollars shall remain unpai
d during my wifes lifetime. That is only in the place where I now live an
d the interest thereof shall be paid yearly to my said wife during her li
fetime and at her death the said one thousand dollars shall be paid to m
y hereinafter named children, all the money which shall come out of my pe
rsonal estate and real estate, shall be paid as follows my will that my b
eloved wife CATHERINE shall have six hundred dollars out of the first mon
ey that shall come into the hands of my executors and then my will is tha
t those of my children that I have advanced money or other things charge
d in my books shall not draw any money till those that are less or not ch
arged at all shall have as much as the one that has The most and when the
y are all even then my will is that they shall all have an equal share th
at is to say my son John shall have an equal share and my grand childre
n born from my son DANIEL SPANGLER shall have an equal share and be pai
d to their guardian, my son MICHAEL SPANGLER shall have an equal share, m
y son Henry shall have an equal share, my son Jacob shall have an equal s
hare, my son JONAS SPANGLER shall have an equal share, my daughter LYDI
A intermarried with BARNEY SPANGLER shall have an equal share and my daug
hter ELIZABETH shall have an equal share. My son JOHN SPANGLER shall hav
e the said above stated for which he shall be charged forty five dollar
s per acre. He shall have it as long as he lives and if his wife should s
urvive him then she shall be entitled to the use of the one third durin
g her lifetime or widowhood and at both -------- death it shall go for th
e use of his children. I do hereby authorize my herein after named execut
ors to sell all my real estate except as above exception to the best adva
ntage they can and make good and lawful title to the purchasers as I migh
t or could have done.
And lastly I nominate, constitute my son Henry Spangler and my son JACO
B SPANGLER my executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby - and m
aking null and void all former wills by me heretofore made. In witness wh
ereof, I, the said JACOB SPANGLER have hereunto set my hand and seal th
e twentieth day of August one thousand eight hundred and forty six.
