Copyright FamilyHart 2009 - .His obituary in the "Centre Democrat" of T hu. 17 Aug 1938 read: "Injuries received in a fall at the Chemical Lim e Company plant about two months ago are believed to have contributed t o the death at the Grove City Hospital, Monday night, of George A. King , of Valley View, who died suddenly as preparations were being made to br ing him home. In June Mr. King, an employee of the Chemical Lime Company , was at his regular duties at the plant when he made a misstep and fell , twisting himself in the act. Although he complained of considerable pa in, he did not believe his injuries to be of a serious nature. About thr ee weeks ago when he failed to recover from the effects of the fall, an X -ray examination at the Centre County Hospital revealed that several vert ebrae in the neck were out of place. He was taken to the Grove City Hosp ital about two weeks ago and had responded so readily to treatment that h is brothers-in-law, Gray Houser and Jacob Houser were preparing to take M rs. King and son George to Grove City, Monday evening to bring him home w hen their plans were cancelled by news of his sudden death at the hospita l. Members of the family report that death is believed to have resulte d from a stroke, although this belief has not been verified. Mr. King w as a son of Thomas and the late Mary Fogleman King and was born in Benne r township on July 30, 1898, making his age at time of death 40 years an d 15 days. Surviving are his father, Thomas, of Valley View; his wife, t he former Annabelle Gill, and three children, Louise, Thelma, and George , Jr., all at home, and the following brothers and sisters: William, Alb ert, and Thomas King, Mrs. Forest Eckley, Mrs. Reuben Rider and Mrs. Jaco b Houser, all of Valley View; Mrs. Gray Houser and Mrs. William Rote, o f Coleville, and Mrs. Edith Gordon, of Bellefonte. Funeral services wil l be held from the home at Valley View at 1:30 o'clock this Thursday afte rnoon and will be continued at 2 o'clock at the Valley View United Brethr en Church, in charge of the Rev. Homer Gauntt, pastor of the church. Int erment will be made in the Meyers cemetery, Buffalo Run valey. Mr. Kin g was a member of the Valley View United Brethren Church."

My grandmother Judy Breon who lived in Valley View remembers Mr. King an d his untimely death. She says his fall was caused by a slippery board , and the treatment caused surgery. When the news that he passed away re ached his family, suddenly the silence was broken and their mournful crie s could be heard throughout the whole village.
